Who Can Get a Card
A Hudson Area Public Library card is issued free of charge to anyone living in the Library's district.
Non-Resident Fees
Individuals living outside the library district can purchase a non-resident card for $177 per year. This card would give non-residents full borrowing privileges.
How to Get Your Card
To apply for a library card, please show a staff member a photo ID with a current address. Individuals may also show a picture ID and a document that includes a current address. Patrons must be 5 or older to receive a library card. Individuals between the ages of 5 and 13 must have a parent’s signature to obtain a library card. All patrons 14 and older are given full adult borrowing privileges.
Where the Card Can be Used
Library cards are valid for three years. Hudson Area Public Library honors library cards from Bloomington Public Library, Normal Public Library, and all Alliance Library System public libraries.
Borrowing Limits
The Hudson Area Library does not have any limits on the number of items patrons may borrow.
Renewing Your Borrowed Items
Patrons may renew items in person, over the phone, or via email. All library materials, except DVDs and VHS tapes, may be renewed for three weeks if the item is not on hold for another patron. There is no limit on the number of renewals. Please call 726-1103 to renew by phone or email hudsonarealibrary@yahoo.com to renew online.
Library Fines
Overdue fines are 10 cents per day for all items except DVD and VHS tapes. Overdue fines for DVDs and VHS tapes are 50 cents per day.
